I've spent forty years inside the technology this industry keeps calling new — from mainframe decision-support systems in 1979, through Metaphor, IBM, Teradata, and AWS, to today's generative AI. Along the way I built Technology Cartography™, a method for showing leaders exactly where their technology spend is solving a real business question — and where it's quietly standing in for a decision nobody ever assigned anyone to make.
I don't advise from theory. I've watched six complete technology cycles make the same promise, and I help clients tell, case by case, which decisions belong to a model and which still require a person.
